(ANTHEM, ARIZONA) Anthem’s National Day of Prayer was celebrated May 3rd, with nearly 200 people in attendance, at the Veterans Memorial in the community park. This event, hosted by several Anthem community churches, united the community in an expression of prayer for the leaders and their spheres of influence. These leaders expressed their continual commitment to serve and protect the nation, state and community. The inspirational verse used for this year’s NDP is Psalm 91:4 “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and protection.”

Jon Hatch (Arizona Hills Church) began by answering the question “why do we pray?” He stated from inception, this nation was crafted with the fabric of prayer. God’s people must continue the prayer vigil. He also stated that Ready-Anthem has the goal that “no person will think ‘no one cares’”.

Several civic leaders were asked to pray for the needs and future of their respective fields of service.

Terry Anderson (Center for Arizona Policy) prayed for the State and Federal government. He asked God to protect and guide the president, and representatives’, and the governor and legislators. He prayed that God would raise up godly leadership to direct and guide the country. He shared the vision of this service as Christians standing in the gap.

Joe Torres, (U.S. Army) recently returned from Afghanistan, represented and prayed for the military and their families serving the country at home and abroad. He acknowledged, “He was only here because of prayer.” The burden of his heart was for each soldier to have peace of heart during the stressful times they must endure.

Jacque Mau (1st grade teacher NVCA) expressed prayers that godly educators will realize that they have the opportunity and power to make positive changes in children’s lives.

Doug Clark (Anthem Business Leader) represented the business leadership at large. He prayed that these leaders would turn their hearts toward God in their business practices, laying aside greed and with a generous heart to honor God.

Several local leaders offered a vision and prayer for the Anthem community.
Jeff Pointer (Anthem Community Counsel) shared a vision of unity, praying for humility, wisdom and a community-driven interest as the ACC Board meets and makes decisions concerning the Anthem community.

Mark Nichols (Daisy Mt. Chief of Fire) expressed concern and prayers for not only Anthem’s 1st responders but also the entire nation. Every 1st responder encounters stressful situations on a daily basis. The stress on the individual life and their family can be devastating. His vision is that prayers will be offered daily for the emotional and physical strength of those that serve and helping these 1st responders to realize they make a difference in our community.

Roger Marshall (MCSO Sherriff Office) represented the local law enforcement in the community. His prayer and vision was for all citizens to remember these men and women in uniform as sworn ‘peace officers.’ They put their lives in jeopardy to assist, protect and serves others. Pray for the emotional and physical toll that this service has on these individuals and their families.

Mac Harrington (Hosanna Church) prayed for the local churches and asked that you never forget the blessings of religious freedom. His vision for the community is being “unified under the blood of the Lamb”, and with unity among the believers being equipped to serve the needs of the community.

Terry Tarleton (Vineyard Church) prayed for the community’s families. He shared a prayer and desire that all people will experience the family-life ordained by God, and encouraged families to take the challenge as is stated in Joshua “as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.”

John Lunsford (Youth Leader) gave opportunity for everyone to text and pray for the young people in their lives. His prayer and concern was that young people would know they are valued and loved.

Steve Wyatt (Crossroads Church) opened and closed the service with prayer. He ended with admonishing everyone to continue in prayer for the local, state and federal leadership and praying for the 1st responders that serve our community and nation. He stressed continuing the positive community involvement and unity that has been started with ReadyAnthem.

The Pilgrims at Plymouth relied on prayer during their first and darkest winter. Our founding fathers also called for prayer during the Constitutional Convention. In their eyes, our recently created nation and freedoms were a direct gift from God. And being a gift from God, there was only one way to insure protection-through prayer.

It is our goal that you, your family and friends would participate in the National Day of Prayer. We pray that the event impacts your life, and that praying for our nation moves from a one-day event to a lifetime endeavor. So join us on Thursday, May 3, and pray with conviction that God would continue to shed His grace on our nation.

Many will gather at Anthem Community Park, at 7 PM around the Veteran’s Memorial. Local leaders will join and lead in prayer over areas of Business, Government, Church, Military, Education, Law Enforcement, and other areas.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” – Psalm 33:12

This weekend, April 22, we will be exhibiting The Wall in both of our services. The Wall is a portable display of 27 vinyl panels listing approximately 6,900 unreached people groups, the population of each group, and the religion to which each group adheres. Unleashed the Unreached sponsors The Wall, representing over 2 billion individuals who have never heard about Jesus, is designed to make a statement about the lostness of these groups, in a similar way as war memorials make statements about soldiers who died in a war.

We, as a church, are reaching the unreached in a region God has directed us in Manta, Ecuador. To learn more how you can participate in a short term mission to Manta, Ecuador this fall, click here.

PRAYER AT THE WALL:
Join us to today and ask God to lead you to a people group for whom to pray. Lay your hand on the printed name of this group. Cry out for their salvation! Ask the Lord of the Harvest to send out workers to these people who have never heard the Gospel — these people who are waiting in darkness. Pray that any hindrances to sharing the Gospel among this unreached people group will be removed. Pray for God to prepare the hearts of these unreached to receive the Gospel. Pray for God to release resources necessary to accomplish the task of establishing a church planting movement among this group. Ask God if there is a role he wants you to play in reaching these people.

The Crossroads is having the following three services Easter Sunday, April 8 – 7:30 | 9 | 10:30 AM

7:30 AM Service
No KidQuest will be provided at the 7:30 AM service.

This service is primarily for our volunteers so they will be able to attend a service, since most will be serving at the next two services.

If you do attend this service, please plan to keep your children with you. The nursery is not planning to be open at this time; however, if you do have a need, please contact gayle@thecrossroadsaz.com, and she will try to work with you.

If you have been looking to get involved and would like to volunteer to help with Easter services (or the picnic on Saturday), please email me at Stacey@thecrossroadsaz.com. I’ll help you find a place to serve!

9:00 AM & 10:30 AM services

Both 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM services will have full KidQuest programming for your children.

There will be no changes to our standard check-in, drop-off and pick-up in the D building. If you are new, just follow our signs to check-in!

For you parents that also have older children, junior high and high school students will have a service during the 10:30 service only.

Saturday, April 7, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Community Family Picnic

Our annual Community Family Picnic is this Saturday at the Anthem Community Park softball fields. Your family will love the bounce houses, egg scavenger hunts, family field games, face painting, cotton candy, snow cones, Zorbing balls, & picture booth! Be sure to register at the welcome tent. You will then receive wristbands for free lunch for your whole family!

We are looking forward to celebrating Jesus with you!
